Amboseli Sopa

Set in 200 acres of private land, and with a rustic charm all of its own, the lodge nestles in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro which, at almost six thousand metres, is Africa’s highest and most famous snowcapped mountain. It was this region of Kenya that, in the 1930’s, inspired Ernest Hemingway’s unforgettable stories ‘The Snows of Kilimanjaro’ and ‘The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber’ which were turned into more than successful feature films in the late 1940’s due to their renowned actors. All forms of wildlife still abound in this wilderness which continues all the way to the Amboseli National Park, an easy twenty minute drive away from the lodge.

Lake Naivasha Sopa

On 60 hectares of grassland surrounded by trees and set among giraffes and waterbucks, this relaxed resort is in a complex of brick and wood makuti cottages on the shore of Lake Naivasha. It’s 8 km from Crescent Island Game Sanctuary and 120 km from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Featuring living rooms or balconies, the colourful 4-bedroom cottages offer TVs, minifridges and safes, plus en suite bathrooms, covered patios and lawn views.

An airy lobby with skylights and exposed wood beams encircles a vibrant garden and connects to a lounge bar and a restaurant. There’s also event space, and an outdoor pool with a kids’ section and a bar.

Mara Sarova

Set in the Masai Mara National Reserve, this upscale all-inclusive lodge is 14 km from Keekorok Airstrip, and an hours’ flight from Nairobi.

Sophisticated tents with sitting areas and en suite bathrooms offer Wi-Fi, and tea and coffeemaking facilities, plus ceiling fans and mosquito nets. Upgraded tents add soaking tubs and decks, while family tents feature living areas.
